The overall condition of the erkennungsmarke is very good. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 4.Batterie of Reserve (Festungs) Flak Abteilung 365. The 4th batterie was a 'Leichte Batterie'. Created in 1939 in Luftgau XI. In 1940 it moved to Mainz and in 1941 it moved to Amsterdam. In 1942 it became a 'Schwere Flak Abteilung' and at the same time the 4.Batterie was used to create the 1.Batterie Leichte Flak-Abteilung 835 and was stationed in France on the Channel Coast. Flak Abteilung 835 saw heavy combat during the Normandy invasion and got finally destroyed in July 1944 in Cherbourg. Only the 2.Batterie managed to escape.
