The mantel is in very good condition. Shows only slightly signs of wear. All the buttons are present. The Edelweiss patch on the arm is in our opinion period applied by hand. It's marked by the maker Anders Mathiessen from Stettin and it's size marked. It's also unit marked with 5./G.A.R.79 which stands for 5.Batterie Gebirgs Artillerie Regiment 79. It was part of the 1.Gebirgs-Division and saw it's first combat during the invasion of Poland. After that it participated in the invasion of France. After France it moved to Yugoslavia, Serbia, Russia and after Russia it moved to Greece in 1943.
