Both passes show signs of wear. They belonged to Heinrich Rümp who served in the 1.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 60. This regiment was part of the 16.Infanterie-Division which was known as 'der Windhund-Division'. In the Arbeitsbuch we can read that Heinrich worked in a Cafe first as a Baker's apprentice and later as an assistant. In April 1938 he joined the Arbeitsdienst for a couple of months and after that, on the 17.nov.1938, he was enlisted in the 1.Kompanie Inf.Rgt.60. A year later, on 1.Nov.1939, he was promoted to the rank of a Gefreiten. On 1.Jan.1941 he was promoted to Obergefreiten. The regiment crossed the border with Luxemburg on the 10th of May 1940, crossed the Ardennes and saw its first combat. A couple of days later saw combat at Sedan and Charleville. After France the division and its units saw combat in the Balkans in April 1941. it returned home in May to prepare for Operation Babarossa which took place on the 22th of June 1941. In Russia it saw combat in areas like Dubno,Kiew,Kursk,Woronesh,Don,Rostow,Stalino and Mius.
Heinrich was killed in action on the 21.08.1943.

According to the Wehrpass Heinrich followed a Pionier Course from 12-15.May.1941. He was awarded the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz on the 12.09.1940 because he was wounded twice, on 17.05.1940 and 02.07.1940. He also earned the Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen (Westwall) on 01.01.1940 and the Ostmedaille on 18.08.1942. On the 20.04.1943 he was awarded the Kriegsverdienstkreuz II.Klasse. The pass comes with an awesome combat calender.
Interesting set of documents.
