Very nice 4.M.G. Ersatz Kompanie 60 dog tag in used, but good condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the '4 MG Ersatz Kompanie 60' which was part of Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 60. The bataillon was formed in August 1939 and trained and supplied soldiers for the Infanterie Regiment 60. This regiment was part of the 16.Infanterie-Division. Also known as the 'Windhund Division'. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of France. From July 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and fought in areas like, Kiew, Kursk, Chargota, Don, Rostow and Mius.
In September 1944 the ersatz bataillon was also used to form Panzer-Brigade 111. In December 1944 it was renamed Panzergrenadier-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Bataillon 60. In April 1945 it became part of Panzer Ausbildungs Verband Westfalen.
The 'O' on both parts stands for the bloodtype of the soldier.
