The dog tag is in overall worn, but solid condition. It belonged to a soldier who served in the I.Abteilung 4.Batterie Flak Regiment 43. This abteilung was formed in October 1937 in Wittenberg with 5 batteries. It saw its first combat during the invasion of France as a supporting unit for the IV.Armeekorps. In April 1941 it moved to the Balkans and in June to Sicily. In December 1941 it moved to Benghasi and participate in the Africa Campaign. In October 1942 it fought at El Alamein. The abteilung was destroyed in May 1943. Newly reformed in November 1943 in Vitebsk from the IV./Luftwaffen Artillerie Regiment 3. In April 1944 the regiment was renamed into le.Flak Abteilung 78. In June 1944 it moved to France in the Argentan area.
