The Wehrpass shows overall normal signs of wear. Its solid and complete with all pages. It belonged to Mathias Bernhard who was drafted in the 10.Batterie Artillerie Regiment 27 Augsburg in October 1938 as a Kanonier. From August 1939 till October 1940 Mathias served in the 3.Batterie Artillerie Regiment 268 and after that in the 2.Batterie. The regiment was part of the 268.Infanterie-Division. In August 1940 Mathias was promoted to Gefreiten and in June 1941 to Obergefreiten. The Wehrpass contains an extensive battle calendar which tells us that the unit fought during the invasion of France at the Maginot-Linie and in September 1940 it moved to Poland. In June 1941 the division and her units participated in the invasion of Russia. It the years to come it fought battles in areas like, Minsk,Smolensk,Brjansk, Moskau, Juchnoff and Ugra. On the 18th of August 1943 Mathias died of his wounds from the day before.
