The overall condition of the document is very good. Folded in the middle. The woundbadge was awarded on the 23th of July 1944 to Oberleutnant Walter who served as the commander 14 Kompanie Grenadier Regiment 317. This unit began as Infanterie Regiment 317 and became a Grenadier unit in 1942. It fell under the command of the 211.Infanterie-Division. This division started the war in the Eiffel in 1939, then France were it stayed untill Januari 1942 before it moved to Russia, Brjansk,Orel,Newel and Kewel. In November 1944 it was renamed in the 211.Volks-Grenadier-Division and moved to Hungary and fell under the 8.Armee. By the end of the war it moved to Niederösterreich and surrendered in Raum Budweis to the Russians AND Americans.
The document is signed by Major and Regimentsführer Herbert Dohle. Wearer of the Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuz since 28.11.1943.
